Session 8 Recap
"Temple of the Twelve"

Entering Ukulum's jungles through just past the "Rune Obelisk".



The group pursue's Dr. Solstarni's kidnappers onto the continent of Ukulum. Arriving at Turhalu Point, they meet with a Qabarat researcher who outfits them with some useful gear for their expedition. He also confirms that a large party made up mostly of armed lashuntas and including a kasatha matching Dr. Solstarni's description arrived a couple of days prior.

After a few days of travel the characters come to the edge of the plains and start of the jungle. A moot of yaruks mills about the region, causing them to consider finding a way through the usually calm, but massive beasts, or else lose time going around. Sabine rigs up her drone and the group begins trying to carve a path through them by playing Lance's music at a loud volume in an attempt to herd them. During the process, a sniper's shot rings out, clearly targeting the drone. No futher attacks happen after the failure to knock the drone out.

When they stumble upon the structure Zan named the "Rune Obelisk" a troop of kaukariki makes their presence known by singing and tossing fruit. Lance sings back, trying to mimic their calls, and his training pays off well enough to keep the stingbats more curious than aggressive. His singing has no effect on the vracinea hiding near the obelisk. A serious of lucky shots keeps the huge plant from devouring anyone, which is fortunate since several of the group fell victim to the creature's abilities, with Hesori taking the worst of the attack.

The next day the group spots a strange creature at the edge of their vision. Over the course of the day, the creature continues to show up, obviously shadowing the group, and late in the day it attacks Hesori by firing a thorn into his neck before disappearing into the foilage.

The next day Hesori wakes feeling sick and weak. The creature that was shadowing them is nowhere to be seen, but close to the end of the day they spot a lashunta writing in pain and mumbling in a clearing. Sabine goes to investigate and realizes the woman has a thorn embedded in her leg that looks like the one Hesori took. She weakly threatens Wingnut as she attempts to provide medical care. Before she can do much to help the diseased woman, the creature that had been shadowing the group attacks. Once again, Hesori ends up bearing the brunt of things, but the rest of the team is able to put the plant monster down. Before she can be treated, the lashunta dies with larvae bursting free from her abdomen. The crew burns her body and the maggots for safety.

With Sabine's help, Hesori begins to  recover, and the next day of travel is actually uneventful, with steady progress made tracking the kidnappers.

The seventh day on Ukulum is less peaceful. The kaukariki troop that had been following at a safe distance is seen hiding in tall flowers and puffs of pink clouds fill the skies. Anticipating some sort of problem, the group takes shelter. Thanks to the kaukariki's, they manage to escape any repurcussions from the pink mold that snows down on them for a few hours.

Seven days have passed since the characters have arrived on Ukulum. Each character receives 1100 experience. GM is "fronting" 100 exp to allow leveling between sessions.
